You can carry your water bottle for the 2km hike crossing 2 rivers to get to the cave entrance. once you arrive, there are washrooms - USE THEM! It’s about 3.5 hrs before you will get access again. The road to the trail head is riddled with lot holes so it’s a bumpy ride. You might get a glimpse of monkeys, birds, spiders and much more.Īfter we finish the site tour, we will enjoy a picnic of local cuisine and then make our way back to Belize city. As you trek along the site you might run into some wildlife as this site is surrounding by jungle. ![]() From here you will be able to see Guatemala the one of the neighboring countries with Belize. You will have the opportunity to climb the El Castillo temple which is approximately 130 feet tall. Once we arrive to the archaeological reserve of Xunantunich the guide will take you to explore the ancient wonders of the site. Once, we arrive to the ferry we will be hand cranked across the beautiful green Mopan river which we then drive for another 5 minutes to our destination. The drive takes approximately 2.5 hours in which we get to venture through the Twin Towns of San Ignacio and Elena as we make our way closer to the hand crank ferry. As the elevation increases you will get to see the Maya Mountains from a distance and the change in vegetation from savanna to tropical jungle. Once all passengers have boarded we then embark on our trek from low flat land to the beautiful hills. Our driver and guide will meet you at your location for pick up. ![]()
